With a diverse range of vendors offering everything from artisanal crafts to fresh produce, there’s something for everyone at the Rainy Lake Market. You can also enjoy live music, delicious food, and much more, making it a perfect day out for the whole family.

A Modern Look Back in Time

The landscape of the Fort Frances area is truly one of a kind. Nestled right on the edge of the Canadian Shield, as one leaves the town the land eases from hardened rock to the warm fields that come to define the Prairie provinces and midwest United States. The Spry Farm is a family owned and operated business offering: agritourism opportunities, canine services, and beekeeping & honey sales. The farm’s agritourism services include scheduled farm tours and petting zoos, allowing everyone the opportunity to enjoy a taste of “life on the farm.

If you’ve never had a chance, it’s an amazing opportunity to schedule a farm tour any time! This is a great option for larger organizations or groups of friends/families who can split the cost and have the farm all to themselves. You can meet all the animals, take a hay wagon ride along the groomed trails, spend time enjoying the sandbox, play structure, and yard games. All while your hosts tell you all about the rich history of the farm and the area.

Kitchen Creek Golf Course

Kitchen Creek Golf Course is rated one of the best 18-hole golf courses in Northwestern Ontario. The par 72 course rse features 6,424 yards from the blue tees. The namesake of the course, Kitchen Creek, comes into play on 12 of the 18 holes. The front 9, resembles a prairie course, with flat, wide-open forgiving fairways, while the back 9, carved out of a heavily wooded area provides a variety of features and tactical challenges.

After you’ve enjoyed a round of golf, relax on the club deck, taking in the panoramic view of the 18th green and dine on a varied menu.

Heron Landing Golf Course

Watch Eagles swoop down and Herons swim by as you golf 18 well tended holes on the shores on Rainy Lake. Built and owned by Couchiching First Nation be sure to check in on the Facebook page to join into one of the many fun tournaments open to the public.

Swimming and Sunsets

All summer long the sandy beach at Point Park is the best place for a family day get away. The beaches gradual slope from shore to deep water makes it the perfect place to learn to swim or wade into the waves. Expect to see lots of space to spread out, nearby playgrounds and picnic tables.

The final dock along the Parkway is designated from swimming. Take one big jump and find yourself submerged in the clear and cool waters at the mouth of the Rainy Lake.

Don’t miss the Rainy Lake Sunsets, from the beach, deck, dock or a stop along the Causeway, these specular year-round expansive sunrises and sunsets are memorable. As the temperatures dip from January to March the Northern Lights are an additional treat.

Skating

All winter long the Memorial Sportsplex provides open indoor skating hours available to the public. Fort Frances also has multiple outdoor rinks through out the community available for use anytime.

The Lakers Junior Hockey

From September to March check out the schedule and see if you can grab a seat at Fort Frances Junior A hockey team game. Fast, fun and young, every game is an experience.

Bog Walk

Head out to Reef Point Road just a few minutes east of Fort Frances to take advantage of 8.5 km loop of groomed walking trails through the boreal forest, see eagles, deer and a wide variety of birds. This hike considered an easy route and takes an average of 1 h 42 min to complete.

Walking Trails

Fort Frances is a great place to stage your hiking vacation. Inside the community the 8th Street trail system that provides you with options for your tour from 1 to 7 km.
